August 2003 Letter From Hoop Club President

HoyaSaxa.com has launched this special page to remind all Georgetown fans of the need to "give the gift of support" via a gift to the Hoya Hoop Club, the official support organization of Georgetown Basketball.

For over three decades, gifts to the Hoya Hoop Club help provide for items the University budgets do not cover, from air conditioning in McDonough Gym to travel arrangements for the team and uniforms for the band. The Hoop Club is also deeply involved in the plans for the future renovation of McDonough Gymnasium into a facility capable of hosting Big East home games and University-wide events.

But they can't do it alone. Despite what some may think, Georgetown Basketball is not living off of the interest of past NCAA windfalls. Georgetown's basketball budget trails many of its conference peers, while expenses continue to rise. A growth in support must be received for Georgetown to better compete with schools with budgets and facilities that exceed that which exists on the Hilltop today.
