First New North hallmate of several other fanatics; haven't missed a Big East since arrival at MSG (although had to bug out early from one in '94 when wife went into labor). A progenitor of the Felix Yeoman Fan Club in '77-'78. Have talked HoyaChris down from the ledge on several occasions.

C'85, from New York. Have followed the Hoyas seriously since
1978-79, and can be found scrounging for tickets at every Big East
tournament, and any game Georgetown plays at the mecca of basketball,
MSG. Favorite players include Pat Ewing, Reggie Williams, Charles Smith
and Sam Jeffers... oops, I meant Sleepy Floyd. And, of course, every
former benchwarmer John Thompson would unveil to torch the Orangemen.
Favorite Hoya Memories: the McDonough Missouri Massacre, the defensive
masterpiece against Kentucky, the National Championship, and EVERY win
over Syracuse. Worst Hoya Memory: that damn bus ride to the Cap Centre.

My name is Sean and I am currently a sophomore at Georgetown and a
sports editor at The HOYA. I have been a Hoya fan since I was a kid growing up
in Arlington during the Mourning era. I'm a student season ticket holder,
and can be seen at all the team's games, even when we play schools like
Howard and Bethune-Cookman. I am a huge college hoops fan, second only to
college football, where I do root for Georgetown but am a Virginia man at
heart. Since I currently reside in New England, where other than at UConn, no one could care less about college basketball, it is great to be back
in Hoya territory where college basketball is king. Hoya Basketball is
back, and it is great to be on campus for what is going to be the
re-establishment of a top-20 program by Coach Esherick.

I am a 14 year old who has loved the Hoyas for years. Now just to
let you know, I know that you've seen young'ins at the games, but I'm
different. My Dad's had season tickets for 25 years, and I go to every
game. My earliest memory of watching the Hoyas play was in Alonzo
Morning's sophomore season.
I am 14 years old, and I already have a bio posted above, but I really didn't put everything I wanted. I started watching the Hoyas in 1987 when I was just 2 years
old. My earleist memory of the Hoyas was having seats with my dad, and
the two others that went the games with us, and seeing Joey Brown steal
a pass against UCONN and putting in a layup as time expired. That was
around 1991 or so. I am at every Hoya game, and have been at 80% of
the home games since 1992. I have watched the Hoya 84 win on tape to
many times to count, and have a virtual Hoya video collection. My
favorite Hoya moments were: The 1984 win over Houston, and also over
Kentucky (Best Hoya game ever played), the 1991, Joey Brown steal to
win, the 1989 tourney, the 1995 miracle shot by Don Reid (I was
watching at home, and went absolutely crazy with my dad), the 1996
tourney, the 1997 game in which Jameel stole Weeks drive, put it up to
Bolden, Bolden passed to Boubacar, and Boubacar passed it to a wide
open Shernard Long by the basket, and he put it in. My least most
memorable moments: the 82 final and "The Pass", the '89 Princeton game,
the Double Overtime Villanova victory in 98, and the departures of
Ewing, Iverson, others, and Thompson. My favorite Hoya is Joey Brown,
and my favorite HoyaS are Ewing, Reggie "and the miracles", Duren, Smitty, Iverson, Reid, Morning,
Mutombo, and Michael Jackson.

Atlanta and Birmingham to see my beloved Hoyas play. Live in San
Francisco now (hence the name). Saw the painful loss to Uconn in the 1996 Big
East tourney (that still hurts) but also saw us destroy them earlier that
year at the Cap Center (who though Ivo could dunk the ball that hard!). Most
memorable moment: storming the court during the 1993-1994 season after
beating Syracuse... it doesn't get any better than that.

My first experience with Georgetown Basketball taught me that Hoya
hoops are a life and death matter. That's because my life was really in
danger. My first memory of the Hoyas, is my dad driving me to a soccer
game, and watching the Hoyas on one of those little "watchman" TVs. He
was paying little to no attention on the road. My first game was the
1984 NCAA game at Pauley Pavilion where we sent Dayton packing, and
after that I was completely hooked.
Other memories: Perennial Big East Champs, JT going to the Nuggets, Beating Duke in the ACC/Big East Challenge, Iverson in the Kenner League, Millen's 3's against Seton Hall "Shorty's in the House", Crushing BET loss against UConn in '96, Don Reid's miracle layup. Other pertinent info: CAS '96, still in the area, so you might have heard me screaming at recent games.

Hello, They call me Shoes, I have been a Hoya fan since about 80-81
back when ESPN had one game a week and you could watch it every day. I
live in Southern Ill.. and operate a municipal water plant. My favorite
moment is winning the title in 84 and and the time coach Thompson bear
hugged Freddie Brown after " the pass ". I've lived and died many times
with the Hoyas and drive 5 hours every other season to Chicago when they
play DePaul. Favorite Hoya? Without a doubt, Waverly Ware!

and LSU, holding Pete to his second lowest college scoring total, but losing
by 1 in the NIT (when it really meant something).
Favorite moments? JT becomes coach and brings 5 HS hot shots from DC.
Recruiting Patrick. Being up 42-9 on heavily favored Chris Mullin and SJU --
AT the Garden! Coming back from 8 down wih a minute to go to beat BC in
Boston (1980), great clock management by JT. Blowing out UK in the semi's in
'84, after trailing by 12 in the first half. Winning it all the next game
over Houston. Iverson destroys 'Nova in '95. Every time we beat SU!
Favorite Hoyas? Mike Laughna, Jonathan Smith, Derrick Jackson, Shelton and Duren, Sleepy,
Reggie, Wingate, Pat, M. Jackson, C. Smith, B. Martin, S. Martin, Allen,
Jerome, O, Ya Ya and Aw, Victor, too many to name.

I've been a Georgetown Hoyas fan for about 7-8 years, since I first
found out about college basketball. Because I live in Canada, I don't
get to see nearly as many Hoya games as I'd like, and I just started
college, so my knowledge of College Hoops has fallen off a bit this
year. My favorite Georgetown moment was when Don Reid tipped it in at
the buzzer to beat Weber St. 51-49 in 1995. I went absolutely nuts,
because I felt that that team was the best GU team I'd seen in my years
as a fan, and that they could be a major factor in the tourney.
Unfortunately they weren't as big of a factor as i'd hoped. Anyways,
just thought i'd drop ya a line cause any GU fan is a friend of mine. E-mail:

I simply live and die by GU Hoops--followed team since 1982.
Favorite player: Tie between Charles Smith and Reggie Williams, with
everyone else tied for second. Favorite moment: Hoyas upset foe Sherman Douglas and the Orange at the
Carrier Dome (1989-90 season, I think) when Charles Smith took an inbound pass and calmly dribble the length court
for a patented scoop lay-up as time expired. Smitty was the best.

Ok..I think I will call myself South Bay Hoya--because I'm from
San Jose California.I've been a fan of Georgetown basketball since 1980, around the time
John Duren played guard. I became a fan because John Thompson. At the time
there weren't many black men in charge of basketball programs on a Division 1
level.
Now that Coach Thompson has stepped aside,I am prepared to support
Coach Esherick. I think he did a tremendous job considering the circumstances
and I'm confident the program is in good hands.

College class of '63. I have hung with the Hoya basketball team since there were no national
rankings. I give great homage to Chuck Deacon for bringing John Thompson to
Georgetown. I remember when Paul Tagliabue ( present NFL commissioner)
was our power forward.
I was there in Seattle in "84". We met with the families of Freddy Brown and
Smith and other players in the hotel where we all stayed, and we hung on every
basket in L.A. and in Seattle. My most memorable moment was hugging Sleepy
Floyd while the band played "We are the champions!" We knew that the dream
had come true! What innocence we had. We all belived that Michael Graham would
be a good student and a great NBA player. That Anthony Jones had made a huge
mistake in going to UNLV but would make it with the Tark. Such a great time,
but how long ago. If we get there again we must do it with real students.
Somehow Duke, Princeton, Stanford can get to the dance. This year was the most
exciting that I can remember in years, although I enjoyed being at every Big
East Tournament for too many years to remember (Hartford, anyone?)
I used to practice law for a living. I now have some real estate. a wine shop,
and great hopes for my investments in Nicaragua. No matter how far I stray
from home, I shall hang on every game, quarter, and basket of my Hoyas!
I enjoy all of your posts while I sit quietly by and listen. I hope Laserman
is doing well. PEACE!

Originally from Minnesota, I graduated from Georgetown (SFS) in 2000.
I ran the Hoya Blue group at Georgetown for my last two years there and got to be a part of some pretty amazing stuff: bringing Midnight Madness back, the return of Jack the Bulldog, packing Sellinger Lounge for playoff games, road-tripping to Syracuse with a bus full of nuts.... I'm a big fan of Coach E and see nothing but the best for our guys in the future. My only lament is never getting to see us win a NCAA Tourney game while I was there. I say its high time we add a couple championship banners to those old
McDonough rafters-- I know if you're reading this you know what I'm talking about. Keep it tight, and I'll see you at the games.

was at Georgetown in the perfect time in the 90's - I saw
three NCAA tournament bids, two presidential elections, an
NIT Final, two inaugurations, four HFStivals, and every Allen
Iverson game. My best Georgetown memory would have to be either
George Butler's three to tie the Memphis game, or the win over Texas
Tech. My worst Georgetown memory - Micoud's third missed free throw
or the time I got up to get a hot dog and missed Texas Tech's Darvin
Ham breaking the backboard on UNC in our regional doubleheader..

My first year on the Hilltop was Iverson's last and so I am anxious for a return to better form, the
kind we saw ample promise of in the 2001 team. I also avidly follow the progress of these
gridiron Hoyas as well. I expect and hope that Coach Esherick will be our man for many years
and also think that Mike Sweetney is the cat's pajamas. I am from both San Diego and Boston
areas, lived in DC for year after graduation, and in NYC now probably for the rest of my life. I
bleed Red Sox red (so does everyone by the way) and my fiancee is damn Yankee fan. I tolerate
it because she cares almost as much about the Hoyas winning as I do- she graduated a year
behind me. I played on the Hoya football team in the MAAC days for 2 years. I also avidly follow
the progress of these gridiron Hoyas as well.

forgiven him since he retired. I haven't fully recovered from Romey missing the layup to win the Big East tourney in 96. Favorite Hoya moment is probably Don Reid's winner against Weber State. Or beating Cuse at the Crap Center in 94 when Moten choked and we rushed the
court.

I love Gtown hoops. I wish I could say I've been into them my
whole life, but the truth is my love affair with the Blue and Gray
began in 1998 when, as a frosh, I went to my first Hoyas home game at
MCI. It's been all song and dance since then, as they say. I joined
the Pep Band just to be able to get into games for free and travel to
MSG every year for the Big East, I was named Fan of the Game once my
senior year, and I read the board every day. Despite our ups and
downs, I'll always root for the Hoyas. My favorite Hoya memory is a
tie between seeing us beat the 'Cuse at MSG in the Quarters at the BET
my sohomore year, and Nat Burton's left-handed layup in Boise (which
was 6 feet away from where I was sitting). I graduated from the
College in 2002, and after a hiatus in Denver for a year, I'm now at
Catholic U. Law to once again root for Gtown from the cheap seats.

I'm a faithful fan since the Ewing era, I never miss a game on t.v since that era.I have a great personal since that era.I have a great personal collection of games or the one's that
was aired in the NYC area since the Ewing era. As a fan I''ve always felt
that we should have more rings, and lost games we gave away.If your like me a
fan that have his/her favorite chair, something with the hoyas name on it.
When we play I hold my blue/grey mini ball throughout the game, and of course
yelling and screaming at the t.v. My favorite hoya moment is Charles Smith scoop shot at the buzzer in the Carrier Dome for the win. My most dissappointing moment was the loss to Duke in the NCAA's, and the lost to Xavier when we had little David Edwards in the NCAA's.Those 2 teams should of went farther than that. My favorite Hoyas are are Iverson, Zo, Patrick, Reggie, Wingate, Jaren, Tillmon, Graham, Dike, Jerome, Scruggs, Hunter, P.McDonald and of course Michael Jackson-any PG going to war against the
Pearl Washington deserves to be on this list. The HOYAS 4 ever,24 hours a day 7 days a week during the season and off season!!!

I graduated from GU SFS in '87, and have followed GU closely since
just before my Freshman year, 1982. Like all Hoyas who were at GU when we
won it, Patrick and the crew gave me one of my greatest sports memories of
all time, and I will always be thankful to have been there and a part of it
when it happened. I have stayed true to GU and the Hoyas program since
then, and am really jacked about the way things are headed. I live in
Germany and have been in Europe for 8 years for business, and am
married and have two children. Will be moving to the SF Bay area soon. Can't
wait to be back and have the chance to see more Hoya action. BTW, not having the internet broadcast available is a SERIOUS problem
for out of town sports fans, and I am in contact with others registering my
total frustration with the situation. This MUST change!!Go Hoyas!!"

I graduated from G'town in '76 and was there for Thompson's first game as coach.
The handle comes from a frequently used Rich Chvotkin expression prior to the
inception of the 3-point line. For all I know, he may still use it.
I have many favorite players through the years: Craig Shelton, Reggie Williams,
Charles Smith, etc. (my dog's name is Floyd). To me, the player that most exemplified
Hoya Basketball was Gene Smith. I've seen teams with offensive weapons over
the years, but the Hoyas were the only team with a defensive weapon.
I still enjoy following the games and hope that one day, soon, we can return to
basketball prominance in spite of the cookie cutter basketball factories like Duke, UNC and Kentucky.

screened shot beating Louisville at MCI center, Burton
taking it to the hole for the buzzer beater over
Arkansas, Hester's three pointer over UVA in triple
overtime NIT, and all of Braswell's buzzer beaters-
especially the one footed, one handed shot over two BC

From Rochester, NY, I graduated from the School of Foreign Service
in 1997, and am currently in law school at the University at Buffalo. I
grew up a Syracuse fan cheering against the Hoyas during the Douglas, Seikley, and Coleman years, but after Keith Smart's winning jumper, and
because of Jimmy B's constant whining, I started to turn away from "the
Dark Side." Now, after demonstrating true penitance and joining the ravid
basketball fanatics of the Georgetown University Pep Band, I have converted
to the Blue and Grey forever.
My favorite Hoya moments are: meeting Spike Lee in McDonough while
he was filming a documentary about Coach Thompson in 1994 -- absolute
chaotic excitement during Iverson's Washington's Birthday Day Massacres of
'Nova in 1995 and UConn in 1996, especially with Clinton and Dickie V in
attendance -- and everthing about the 1996 Big East Championship
Tournament...except for Ray Allen and the final 13 seconds of the
Championship Game.
My favorite Hoya players are: Othella Harrington (because of his
professionalism and sportsmanship on and off the court), Don Reid ("The
Tip", the Imperial March, and because Scotty Thurman deserved it in
1994...), Jerome Williams (because of his pure rebounding skill), and Allen
Iverson (the skill and talent were simply unmatched).

I suffered through the promise of Merlin, Greg, and Jonathan, and the early Matador defense; yet, I was at the Garden when Mike Laska shut down Pistol Pete in the first half, and heard Billy Packer go nuts when Kentucky could not bring the ball up against Wingate in the '84 semifinal. I still bleed blue and gray and try to catch every Hoya game out here in Southern Cal.

real connection to GU, just fell in love with the team at first sight in
1982 at the age of nine when I first watched Patrick play on TV. Fav
moment: Charles Smith beating Syracue at the Dome Jan. 24, 1988. It's
a family legend: After the shot went in I jumped into the air and when I
came down I broke the big toe on my right foot. I was as happy as could
be but in severe pain, and had to go directly to the emergency room!
But I had to support the team. Fav Hoyas: Patrick (forever),Reggie,
