Joseph Eacobacci Memorial Scholarship Fund Joe Eacobacci was a four year member of the Georgetown football team and the captain of the 1995 varsity. An energy trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, Eacobacci was on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center, when the towers fell on September 11, 2001. Over 3,000 friends attended his funeral Mass on September 24, 2001. Its hard to try to put into words the respect we have for him and for his contributions not just as a football player, but as a student-athlete just as a person, said Coach Benson in this article from The HOYA discussing Joe's passing. To honor Joe, the Eacobacci family and Georgetown University have set up the Joseph Eacobacci Memorial Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from this fund will provide a need-based scholarship to a member of the varsity football program, and a post-season award will be given in Joe's name to a member of the team who best exemplifies Joe's spirit for the game. Joe's #35 jersey was retired at a ceremony during Homecoming 2002. Previous coverage of the event follows in this link to The HOYA.
