The following is a very unofficial list of recruiting commitments to Georgetown based on media and other reports. If one of these names is posted in error, please contact us promptly.

Offensive Line
Incoming: 9

  • The Hoyas went heavy on linemen, mindful of their troubles with the line in 2002.A year after adding all-state lineman Jim Elliott, Georgetown added another solid New Jersey lineman in Ryan Lang (6-4, 270). Described by the web site Sports In The Garden State as a "Division I-A prospect who has already drawn interest from Maryland, Rutgers and Syracuse", Lang carried a 4.0 GPA and anchored his West Essex team to the Group II sectional final. Also from New Jersey: Jack Vander Leeuw (6-4, 280), from Southern Regional HS.
  • From Newsday, a commitment from Chaminade lineman Liam Grubb (6-6, 280), an all-CHSFL selection by the New York Daily News.
  • From the Newark Star Ledger, a commitment has been made from Seton Hall Prep DE Alex Buzbee (6-4, 220), who chose Georgetown over interest from Vanderbilt, William & Mary, and Wake Forest. Buzbee is a two-sport star and is a leading scorer for SH Prep's basketball team.
  • From the Minneapolis Star Tribune, a commitment from lineman Tommy King (6-3, 280) from Cretin Derham Hall HS. Cretin Derham Hall has become a perennial power in Minnesota football, and King follows in the footsteps of current Hoya juniors Walter Bowser and Andrew Fleming.
  • The Dallas Morning News announced a commitment from OL Andrew Rehwinkel (6-2, 260) an all-state private schools selection from the same Dallas Jesuit team which sent DB Rocco Milazzotto to the Hoyas last year.
  • From the Cleveland Plain Dealer, news of a commitment from Glenville HS OL Robert Browning (6-1, 300). "The chances for me playing right away are good," said Browning, adding "I liked the campus, the dorms are nice, as are the coaches and people attending school there." According to the Plain Dealer, Browning chose Georgetown over offers from Army, Howard, and Bucknell.
  • Georgetown may have picked up a sleeper in John Arnold (6-2, 280) from Liberty, TX. Arnold was a third team all state selection and an academic-all state pick as well.
  • From the Washington area, the Hoyas add Maurice (Mo) Steward (6-3, 270), an all-District selection from Gar-Field HS who passed on Ivy League offers to stay closer to home.

Quarterbacks
Incoming: 3

  • The Hoyas added three quarterbacks this spring. From the Raleigh News & Observer , Georgetown signed QB David Fajgenbaum (6-3, 190) from the Ravenscroft School. He threw for 2278 yards in his final two seasons, and is Georgetown's first major recruit from the Raleigh area since Murray Happer in the early 1990's.
  • Among the more interesting recruits is QB Keith Allan (6-2, 190), from West Morris Central HS in New Jersey. Allan was a first team All-State pick in 2001 as he led West Morris to the Group III sectional title. Allan played a year in prep school and reentered the recruiting process this fall.
  • Locally, the Hoyas picked up Alonzo Turner (6-0, 180), an honorable mention All-Met QB from Bladensburg. Turner was averaging over 200 yards passing and 90 yards rushing through a portion of the 2002 season.

Receivers
Incoming: 1

  • With the Hoyas deep at receiver, only one WR joins the Hoyas in 2003.Jonathan Edwards (5-10, 165) was an All-IAC selection from the Washington Post as a receiver from St. Alban's Prep.

Running Backs
Incoming: 2

  • Another position where Georgetown has a number of returnees, adding only two prospects. From DC comes P.J. Cameron (6-2, 210) from Robert E. Lee HS in Springfield. Cameron was hurt in portions of 2002, but this preview article noted that "If Cameron can stay healthy, he's one of the few running backs in the region who can put together back-to-back 200 yard games."
  • From California is fullback Matt Cooper (6-2, 215), a first team Pacific Coast League selection from Corona Del Mar, CA.

Defensive Line
Incoming: 5

  • From the Syracuse Post-Standard, Chris Paulus, the fourth brother in the Paulus family, will follow in his brothers footsteps and wear the Blue and Gray this fall. Paulus, a 6-2 DE from Christian Brothers Academy outside Syracuse, was an all-state central New York selection .
  • From the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgetown received a commitment from Norcross HS defensive lineman Jerome Butcher-Green (6-2, 240).
  • Joining Matt Cooper at the Hilltop will be DE Kris Cooper (6-2, 215), a first team Pacific Coast League selection from Corona Del Mar, CA and the team's defensive player of the year. Wrote the Pasadena Daily Pilot:: The Georgetown bound standout was a constant in a defensive unit kept in virtually constant flux by a string of injuries. Cooper also started at tight end, catching four passes for 51 yards while bolstering the running game as one of the team's top blockers. Cooper's contributions were even more impressive, considering he was seldom able to complete a practice due to lingering soreness in which he tore ligaments during his junior season."
  • Two more recruits did not have any web links at their signing date: Shaun Johnson (6-2, 235) from Linden, NJ, and Julius Griauzke (6-4, 270) from Riverside, IL.

Linebackers

  • From the Washington, DC area, the Hoyas welcome a standout linebacker from the Little Hoyas: Georgetown Prep's Greg Davis (6-2, 225). Davis anchored a Prep defense that earned six shutouts in nine games as the Little Hoyas won 29 straight games over his four years at the school.

  • Also from Texas, the Hoyas added a major addition to its secondary with safety Michael Hoy (6-2, 180). Hoy was a consensus first team all-state selection, anchoring the secondary at the nationally ranked Southlake Carroll HS team that swept to a 16-0 record and the Texas 5A state title. Hoy was selected to recruiting expert Max Emfinger's "Texas High School Super Team" where he recorded 148 tackles, forced or recovered nine fumbles, and had eight pass breakups as a senior.
