"The Hoyas aren't there yet, but they have plenty of pieces. The three sophomores are future stars; Yurtseven, Allen and Alexander provide experienced support, and the big freshmen are intriguing prospects," said the preview, as excerpted on a recent Hoyatalk post.
"And barring any catastrophic injuries, this year's edition should be potent offensively and more stingy at the other end. The Hoyas will be big, deep and talented, and should find themselves in the Big East's first division. By March, they might just be dangerous."
Many of the previews follow in early October with the arrival of Big East Media Day.
A series of profiles on freshmen in the Big East has been posted to Twitter. Here's one on the Hoyas:
Ed Drysgula (C'48), the leading scorer on the transitional Georgetown varsity in 1945-46, has died at the age of 93.
As a College sophomore in 1945, Drysgula joined Georgetown's first post-war intercollegiate team, which was comprised largely of walk-ons while the scholarship players from 1943 were completing military obligations. Averaging 10 points per game, Drysgula led the Hoyas in scoring in his first and only season for the Blue and Gray.
Following Georgetown, Drysgula served in the U.S Army in the Korean War and received a dentistry degree from Tufts, eventually settling in Middletown CT and and practicing dentistry for over 60 years. The band leader of the Georegetown college orchestra while a student, Dr. Drysgula was a clarinet and saxophone player with the Middletown Symphonic Band well into his 80's.
A funeral with military honors
follows Monday. Dr. Drysgula was one of three living members of the 1945-46 team.

Among Big East schools, Villanova has moved from #49 to #46, with Marquette (#84) as the only other Big East universities ranked nationally in the top 100. Other nationally classified schools include Creighton (#104), DePaul (#125), Seton Hall (#139), and St. John's (#179). Providence, Xavier, and Butler are all ranked in regional categories.
With the release of the Big East conference schedule Thursday, some thoughts on the road ahead for the 2019-20 Hoyas:
- The four game opener may be among the toughest in program history--road games at Providence, Seton Hall, and Villanova, and a home game with St. John's. Since 2014, GU is a combined 2-16 (.125) in those three road arenas.
- A 2-2 split might be good enough, but a slow start isn't the end of the road.
- The Marquette game (Jan. 18) is the only home game on a Saturday in January.
- Georgetown goes on the road at Xavier on Jan. 22. It's one of the tougher road stops for the Hoyas in the Big East 4.0 era, where Georgetown is 1-5 all-time.
- Georgetown will play most of its midweek home games at either 8:30 or 9:00 EST, another issue that may limit turnout.
- The Hoyas return to New York on Super Bowl Sunday versus St. John's, the 39th consecutive year the two teams have met at Madison Square Garden. In fact, the 1980-81 season was the last season the Hoyas and Redmen have played each other at on-campus sites.
- Georgetown returns home Feb. 8 to open a series with DePaul, returning the game Feb. 22. Georgetown was routed in its last visit to Chicago, which likely ended all NCAA consideration.
- Fox Broadcast will televise Georgetown's Feb. 15 game at Butler. Despite struggling at road arenas at Xavier and Creighton (a combined 2-10 since 2014), the Hinkle Fieldhouse has been a friendly one to the Hoyas--5-1 overall.
- A pair of mid-week home games wind up February: Providence on Feb. 19 and Marquette on Feb. 26.
- Two Saturday home games in its final three games are set for March--Xavier on March 1 and Villanova on March 7.
- All conference games will be televised on CBS, Fox, FS1, or CBS Sports Network.
- The 41st Big East Tournament returns (as it should) to Madison Square Garden the weekend of March 11-14. It's the last of the 10 team bracket as Connecticut joins in 2020-21.
