A small item in Thursday's Washington Post noted a pre-draft workout for 2002 grad Kevin Braswell. The 6-2 Braswell is expected to be a free agent entrant in an NBA camp later this summer. Braswell is rated as the #16 point guard available, according to CBS Sportsline.
While still a year away from college, 2003 recruit Darian Townes is already being compared to some of the great shot-blockers in Georgetown history. Here's a link to Basketball America with an interview of the 6-9 center from Alexandria, VA.
Armondo Surratt, a recruit who had briefly verballed to Georgetown last fall but backed away, will sign with Miami, according to the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. Surratt had committed to Fresno State but was granted a release from his commitment.
Alonzo Mourning (College '92) has been honored with the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, honoring citizenship and community service, according to the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel. "I've been an inspiration to a lot of people, unbeknownst to me," Mourning said in the Palm Beach Post. "The people I know who know me, know I don't do what I do for the [award]. I do it because I feel it's important."
